#5 Queer Fantasy Ingram Spark bestseller 2023

“The hags shook the dead and woke the trees.
They’re coming to get the lonely three.
The huntress, the bird and the silver tongued
must leave it all behind
to find out what happened to the one.”

Rosie collected herbs throughout Lakewood Trees all the time, but she never expected to collect a silver-haired boy from a crater created by a lightning bolt. He couldn’t speak. His clothes were tattered and his only possession was a whispering key clutched tightly in his hand. With help from her only child, Henry, they fed and clothed the boy, whom they aptly named Silver. Henry was immediately drawn to the mysterious boy, but Rosie was wary. For soon after Silver’s arrival, the forest started to walk, the birds started to bite and the sky rained worms. The home Rosie worked so hard to keep became the center of attention to an unspeakable evil.

Silver is now one of my favourite fantasy books.
Michael has lovingly crafted a world all of their own that feels real, and is one without judgement.
Rosie (and others) feels like a fully fleshed out character, flaws and all.
Michaels introduction of queer characters is refreshing to say the least. They do not rely on queerbaiting, falling victim to stereotypes, but they treat their characters with no less love than they are due.
This series will be something to keep an eye on, for sure.
    Would completely recommend. 5 STARS!

Silver was such an action-packed read. I loved everything about it, but notably the mystery that was woven throughout, and the entmen. This book has so much soul and I can’t wait for book two!

Silver was such a great read from beginning to end, there was never a moment where I put the book down and didn’t want to pick it right back up again.

It was a refreshing take into a new world with a queer storyline and a mystery that always kept me on the edge of my seat! It was so heartwarming to see in the midst of chaos there’s still emotions and it was always a balance of me saying ‘oh no!’ & ‘awww so sweet’.

Michael is such a talented author and I can’t wait to see what they do next in this series and how the story of Silver plays out.

Excuse me, excuse me. I need book two. I need it now.

Silver has taken up permanent residence in my heart. I fell in love with In-Rel and its inhabitants. The characters are so well fleshed out. It feels like you could have a conversation with them. And Silver being the character he is made me laugh SO many times. There is beautiful chemistry between the characters and it always felt completely natural. No one character was without their own personal flaws and I love that. I was guessing until the very end. Michael pleeeease we need book two!
